During our historical tour of Bruges, we will focus on its unique past, spanning from the Celts and Romans to the Vikings and the horrors of World War I. You’ll hear captivating stories about the city’s artists, magicians, alchemists, crusaders, pilgrims, traders, philosophers, witches, and ghosts. We will leisurely stroll through the old medieval town, delving into every colourful aspect of its rich history.

Our exploration will encompass the main sights of Bruges, but we will also venture off the beaten path, leaving the crowds behind. It is highly recommended to bring your camera, as there will be plenty of fantastic photo opportunities along the way!

Historical walking tour of Bruges
- ItineraryThis is what our experience could look like, but it’s not set in stone! Once you book, you can chat directly with your host to make small tweaks to suit your preferences.
- Meet & Greet
  Meet me in front of the "HISTORIUM" museum on the Market Square. We'll talk about Flemish past glories and tragedies, of wars and retribution and of hope for the future.
- Beer and Power
  We'll walk by one of the oldest canals in the city, next to a true beer palace, marvels of Michelangelo, oldest hospital and a fantastic beer pipeline.
- Beguinage
  A special place in the heart of Bruges established in the Middle Ages as a women only enclave, which also has a connection with Winston Churchill.
- Holy Bruges!
  We'll talk about the original chapel of the Holy Grail, underground cathedral and hear about crusading connections at one of the most beautiful squares in the city
- Intriguing Churches
  We talk about intriguinging churches in Bruges, including one which claims to be an exact replica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and which has the relic of the Cross of Jesus and talk about the connection of some of them with Scotland and the "Da Vinci Code"
- Medieval Harbor
  We walk around medieval harbour, trying to rediscover its cosmopolitan atmosphere and talk about its spectacular trading past as well as why Jan van Eyck was known as the alchemist
- Haunted Houses
  We'll see some houses where paranormal activity has been reported and talk more about the dark side of Bruges
- Money and Love
  We walk through the area thought to be the birthplace of capitalism, towards medieval Waterhalls, where trade and prostitution went hand in hand and where we'll end our tour
